Cardio is essential to every exercise program but it's also the most dreaded. Often when we think of cardio we think of intense running, huffing and puffing with sweat dripping down our faces. Cardio can come in different forms and doesn't have to be full throttle intensity, there are other ways to get your cardio fix that are easy and that everyone can do. By far the easiest and simplest way to get your cardio fix. You might no feel like you're not doing much but walking gets your heart pumping, increasing circulation and energy levels, walking is subtle and low intensity. Although you may not sweat depending on your fitness levels the effects are the same as going for a run you just need to walk for longer. Get your 10,000 steps in during the day and you will feel like you went for a run by the ed of the day.
Swimming is an all over workout and works the same way as running, using all your muscles but without the gravity of pounding the pavement. Swimming is also excellent for anybody with knee problems who find running difficult and painful. Cold water is also invigorating and gets your body and metabolism pumping without doing much. So what are you waiting for? Don't wait until you're next holiday to go for a swim, head to the beach or you local pool.
