Why the Tupac Biopic 'All Eyez On Me' Won't Give You Goosebumps
Posted on 28 June 2017
There are so many words we could use to describe Tupac and none of them would ever give him justice. But if we had to pick one word, it would be 'genius'.
Till this day he is appreciated and respected like no other rapper in history. He was a true artist that became a revolutionary of his time.
His songs will forever be powerful and works of art.
So why was his Biopic 'All Eyez On Me' so Underwhelming?
Maybe its because nothing will ever be good enough when it comes to Tupac, especially for his fans. Nothing will ever depict the true essence of the Rapper himself because there truly will never be anybody like him again. An artist so complex and exceptional can't be explained in a 2 Hour Movie. But at the same time you would expect a few Goosebumps. After all, you cant deny the fact his music was powerful and moving
Tupac was raw, deep and an artistic genius but the movie itself just didn't hit the mark. It was Entertaining to the point of just being entertainment. It was Visually rich yet under-dramatised.
I think we can all agree, the resemblance of Demetrius Shipp Jr who portrays Shakur in the movie is uncanny and extremely believable. What's also interesting is we do get a glimpse of his Family who have always remained in the background and yet played such an integral part of why Tupac was the way he was. His mother and stepfather were in the Black Panthers and this seemed to have a big impact on him. There were some confusing parts of the movie and for somebody that isn't familiar with Tupac it can be quiet confusing as the movie doesn't go into much depth.
If Tupac were alive today and produced his own Biopic it would be a work of art and would probably win an array of awards.
So I guess this movie is as good as its going to get for his Fans. But at the end of the day his reputation and work as an artist and as a revolutionary will always out weigh any movie ever produced.
Tupac set out to be remembered and to make a difference. Twenty one years have passed since he died and he is still creating fans and will be for generations to come. All in all the movie is still worth seeing because any memory of Tupac is always a good one and for every true fan of Tupac they can just play one of his songs to feel his true essence and the raw power of the rapper he was.
